Dr Huang Genghua, Research Assistant Professor, School of Graduate Studies

The COVID-19 epidemic is spreading all over the world. As a global city, Hong Kong is also under the threat of the epidemic. The research team would like to collect the perceptions on the COVID-19 epidemic of the elderly (aged 55 or above) in Hong Kong, which are vulnerable to the epidemic. Specifically, this study explores Hong Kong elderly’s major concerns during the COVID-19 Health Crisis: for example, do they have enough knowledge to prevent the COVID-19; what is their psychological status? what help do they need. In addition, this study also explores how technology / Gerontechnology help them during the epidemic. To reduce the risk of infection, this study adopts the method of online survey instead of face-to-face questionnaire survey. The online questionnaire is designed to be simple enough to be completed by the elderly within 5 minutes. The findings will be published in mid-May.
