Dean Joshua Mok attends the 40th Anniversary of the Institute of Education, Tsinghua University in Beijing

Professor Joshua Mok, Dean of the School of Graduate Studies was invited by the Institute of Education, Tsinghua University to attend its 40th Anniversary Ceremony and presented at the International Conference on “Constructing Higher Education for the Global Era: Providing Student Competence” held from 26-27 October 2019 in Beijing. Professor Mok presented a paper entitled “Questing for Sustainable Development in Higher Education: The Role of Liberal Arts Education”, he argued the importance of whole person development and soft skills preparing future generations for uncertain futures. The Conference attracted over 150 participants, with distinguished speakers from University of Cambridge, University of Berkeley, University of Melbourne, the University of Queensland, Sungkyunkwan University, Indiana University, just name a few here. During his visit to Beijing, Professor Mok also discussed collaborations with colleagues from Faculty of Social Sciences of Tsinghua University and faculty of Science of People’s University. More research and postgraduate programme collaborations will be established between Lingnan and these leading institutions in the mainland.
