Lingnan University’s Institute of Policy Studies and Routledge Taylor & Francis Online co-organised the Journal of Asian Public Policy (JAPP) award presentation ceremony and the public seminar on March 24, from 9 am -10:40 am. Professor Mok Ka Ho, Vice-president of Lingnan University and the Editor-in-Chief of the JAPP, delivered the opening speech and announced the prize and the awardees. Professor Dayashankar Maurya from the International University of Japan and Professor Michael Mintrom from Monash University (Australia), presented their prize-winning paper – ‘Policy entrepreneurs as catalysts of broad system change: the case of social health insurance adaption in India’. The scholars explained the actions of policy entrepreneurs to broad system change and analysed the adoption of social health insurance programmes in India to identify the role of policy entrepreneurs in driving the adoption of those programmes. Professor Reza Hasmath from the University of Alberta, Canada, and Professor Jessica Teets from Middlebury College, USA, also presented their winning paper - ‘The evolution of policy experimentation in China’. The article has traced the evolution of experimentation through the prism of varying motivations. This article outlined the evolution of experimentation through the prism of varying motivations, such as individual career incentives, improving governance, and symbolic and factional politics.

 

JAPP has become one of the major public policy journals with a strong focus on issues related to development, policy and governance in Asia from comparative and international perspectives since its official launch in 2008.
