Lingnan University is focusing on promoting humanitarian innovation in gerontech development through knowledge transfer activities, improving elderly care services and minimising the social cost of the ageing population.

The LU Jockey Club Gerontechnology and Smart Ageing Project invited a wheelchair company to organise a“Stair-climber Workshop” on 29th June to demonstrate different stair climbers and how they work to both the elderly and caregiver -- our gerontechnology ambassadors. Actually using the stair climbers helped them to understand how they operate, and the safety procedures. The ambassadors were then able to give the company feedback, which should help future product development.

LU is keen to organise workshops on gerontechnology in healthcare, dining, living and transport so as to improve access and cross-sectoral collaboration in achieving Hong Kong’s vision of a smart ageing society.
