Lingnan University, South China University of Technology and The Education University of Hong Kong co-hosted International Conference on Social Policy and Governance Innovation

 

Lingnan University (Hong Kong), South China University of Technology (SCUT, China Mainland) and The Education University of Hong Kong co-hosted the Firth International Conference on Social Policy and Governance Innovation from 27 to 28 October 2018 at South China University of Technology. The theme of the conference was"Towards Collaborative and Balanced Public Policy" and the conference attracted over 80 presenters from over 10 countries and regions such as the UK, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Vietnam, Turkey, India, South Korea, Hong Kong and Mainland China to attend.

 

When opening the Conference, the School of Public Administration of SCUT organized a special ceremony to appoint Professor Ka Ho Mok, Changjiang Chair Professor conferred by the Ministry of Education, People's Republic of China, Vice President and Lam Man Tsan Chair Professor of Lingnan University, as Chair Professor of Public Policy of the School of SCUT, to recognize his outstanding academic achievements. The conferment of Chair Professorship to Professor Mok would further strengthen the collaborations between SCUT and Lingnan University.

 

Both universities have planned to co-launch an inter-university research centre, entitled Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Social Policy and Governance Research Centre. The establishment of the Centre will provide a great platform for academics, researchers and policy analysts to work together to develop better understanding of development opportunities and challenges, informing policy discourses and policy formation across the region. Dr. Dong Zhang and Dr. Padmore Amoah from Lingnan University also participated and presented in the conference.
