According to the THE Asia University Rankings 2020, the overall positions of Hong Kong universities have dropped. In an interview with the press, LU Vice-President Prof Joshua Mok Ka-ho comments that it is hard to tell if it is a direct result of the social unrest - as rankings are often correlated with research funding; he also points out that the legislation of national security law has not affected international collaborations between universities so far. He adds that LU has launched a dual doctoral programme with Taiwan’s National Chengchi University, and continues to work closely with the Global Liberal Arts Alliance.
