School of Graduate Studies organises ‘Two-Day Education Leaders’ Training Programme: Inspirations from Hong Kong Disneyland’ experiential learning activity

The “Two-Day Education Leaders Training Programme: Inspirations from Hong Kong Disneyland” experiential learning event took place on June 11 and 12. The training programme was organised by teams from the MA in International Higher Education and Management (IHEM), and the Master of Social Sciences in Organisational Psychology and Education Management (OPEM), at Lingnan’s Graduate School. The two-day, off-campus seminar was attended by students from all backgrounds and cultures.

Designed for students of Lingnan’s Graduate School, the inspiring, fun-filled schedule focused on teaching as well as management skills. The event provided future leaders in education with opportunities to explore innovative teaching and instruction methods by exploring thought-provoking initiatives, and by cultivating educational management expertise. The programme featured leadership and negotiation experience and activity design, and expanded students’ vision beyond the campus to take in the whole community with lectures on environmental protection, corporate social responsibility, customer service standards, and art and stage production.

Hong Kong Disneyland experts held workshops on leadership and negotiation skills, and faculty from the Graduate School organised experiential learning activities entitled “Global Perspectives: An Adventure in Liberal Studies” and “Disney's STEM Exploration”. Participants were able to mingle and network during meals and at the graduation dinner, and they also learned about the operations and management of the world-renowned theme park and entertainment venue.

“This two-day experiential learning activity allows students to have fun while learning, and to learn in an enjoyable way,” said Professor Joshua Mok, Dean of the Graduate School. “The seminars and activities have been designed to develop innovative teaching and management skills. The training allows students to participate in Programme Intended Learning Outcomes (PILOs), and helps them improve their critical and creative thinking.”
