

LU Vice-President Mok Ka Ho and Professor Ray Forrest are among the Top scholars in political science and public management in the world.
Based on World’s top 2% of the most-cited scientists published by Stanford University, Weixin reports that Professor Mok and Professor Forrest are ranked 3rd and 5th respectively in the field of political science and public administration among scholars in the Greater China region. In terms of research impact, both Professor Mok and Professor Forrest also come 3rd and 6th respectively, making significant contributions to academia and society.
Stanford University has recently conducted an overall interdisciplinary ranking of the impact of scholars worldwide based on citation data of relevant papers from Scopus, the world's largest abstract and citation database. Based on the record of their publications, scholars' research areas are categorized into primary research area and secondary research area, and both dimensions have been included in the ranking exercise.
In the political science and public administration disciplines, a total of 866 scholars from around the world are included in the database. Among them, 394 scholars belong to the group with political science and public administration as their primary research area while 472 scholars belong to the group with political science and public administration as their secondary research area.
Based on an analysis of the scholars' past publication records and their citation data, a total of 10 Chinese scholars are listed among the world top scholars in political science and public administration. Two of them are from Lingnan University and they are Professor Mok Ka-ho, Joshua and the late Professor Ray Forrest (see Table 1).

In addition to the lifetime impact rankings of top scholars, the report has also included the impact rankings for 2020. In that year, Professor Mok Ka-ho, Joshua of Lingnan University ranked third while the late Professor Ray Forrest ranked sixth (see Table 2).

In recent years, Lingnan University has committed much efforts to advance the political science and public administration discipline. Apart from launching PhD programme in policy studies and master's programme in Cities and Governance, it has expanded its research manpower, organized various international academic conferences, as well as stepping up exchanges and dialogues with international scholars. In the future, Lingnan University will further leverage its academic strengths and proactively strengthen collaboration with universities in Mainland China, especially in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, to jointly promote research with both international perspectives and local elements in the area of politics and public administration.
