About the Programme

The Postgraduate Diploma in Business Programme offers advanced academic training to equip Bachelor’s degree holders with advanced English language academic and analytical skills, and a solid foundation of business knowledge required to study a Master’s degree programme in a business-related discipline.

This programme is operated by Lingnan Institute of Further Education (LIFE) in collaboration with the School of Graduate Studies, Lingnan University.

* Up to two elective courses will be enlisted from the following business-related Master’s degree programmes of Lingnan University: MSc in eBusiness and Supply Chain Management, MSc in Finance, MSc in Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour, MSc in International Banking and Finance, MSc in Marketing and International Business and Master of Accountancy.

Pre-entry Course

Degree holders in a non-business discipline will also be considered on a case-by-case basis, and may be required to take a pre-entry course and obtain a pass in the course.

Graduation Requirements

• Complete 8 courses (4 required courses and 2 elective courses) and obtain a minimum of 24 credits
• Attain a minimum of an average of G.P.A. 2.33 for English for Academic Purposes and Advanced Business Communication, and pass the other 6 courses of the programme; and
• Obtain a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.67 or above
• A student who fulfils all the requirements for graduation shall be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Business with one of the following classifications:

Extended Non-means-tested Loan Scheme (ENLS)

• Students can apply for Extended Non-means-tested Loan Scheme (ENLS) administered by Student Finance Office (SFO).
• Applicants should have the right of abode in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (“Hong Kong”) or have resided or have had their homes in Hong Kong continuously for three complete years immediately prior to the commencement of the programme / course. This does not cover students studying in Hong Kong holding student visas.
• Application form and Application Guidance Notes can be downloaded from SFO’s website at http://www.wfsfaa.gov.hk/sfo/en/postsecondary/enls/application/forms.htm, or obtained from SFO’s office at 11/F, Cheung Sha Wan Government Offices, 303 Cheung Sha Wan Road, Kowloon.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for entry into the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Programme, candidates should:

• hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognised tertiary institution in a business or related discipline, or equivalent*; and
• meet the English language proficiency requirement by attaining a minimum score of 5.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or equivalent.

* Degree holders in a non-business discipline will also be considered on a case-by-case basis, and may be required to take a pre-entry course and obtain a pass in the course.

Selection

All applicants will be considered on the basis of academic and/or professional qualifications, work experience, suitability and potential. Applicants may be required to attend an interview (by phone or online) conducted by the University. Study places are limited, early applications are strongly recommended.

Assessment and Interview

Upon receipt of the application form and relevant information, a telephone or video conference interview (in English) will be arranged. Due to the limited places available, applicants are advised to submit application as early as possible.  If there are excessive applications, LIFE is at its discretion to put late applications on waiting list.
