Abstract
The health of young people working in the informal sector has emerged as a serious global concern. Previous studies have revealed that young informal workers rely on social networks to seek healthcare and enhance their health. However, there has been little study on how this affects the health of this group of young people. Using a mixed-method approach of 686 survey and 32 in-depth interviews, this study examines the relationship between social networks, access to healthcare, and the health-related quality of life among young informal construction workers in Nigeria. The early findings show some linkages between social networks, access to healthcare, and the health-related quality of life among this group of young people.

Mr. Ayomide Oluwaseyi Oladosu

Mr. Ayomide Oluwaseyi Oladosu is a second-year PhD student at Lingnan University’s School of Graduate Studies studying Sociology and Social Policy. He is interested in young people’s health and wellbeing. His current PhD research is titled Social Networks, Access to Healthcare and the Health-related Quality of Life of Young Informal Workers in Nigeria’s Construction Industry. |
