Introduction of Taekwondo  跆拳道簡介 跆拳道原為韓國社會之一項傳統武術運動並有悠久歷史，以經過有系統之培訓而達到強身健體之目的。更兼備自衛、表演和比賽的功能，故亦逐漸形成國際地位。在一九八六年跆拳道被列為第十屆亞運會的競賽項目，兩年後更成為漢城奧運會的示範項目。於一九九四年九月四日，國際奧林匹克委員會通過投票並宣佈跆拳道在二千年悉尼奧運會中成為正式競賽項目。跆拳道亦成為二零零四年雅典奧運會及二零零八年北京奧運會中二十八項正式競賽項目之一。 而把跆拳道國際化並推動至一百七十九個國家的正是世界跆拳道聯盟(WTF)。WTF於一九七三年五月二十八日成立並分別於一九七五年十月八日成為國際體育聯盟成員(GAISF)及於一九八零年七月十七日在第八十三屆莫斯科國際奧委會會議中正式被確立為認可會員 Association of Summer Olympic International Federations [ASOIF]。而WTF亦是唯一被國際體壇認可之跆拳道專項體育組織。 WTF亦將一百八十二個國家分成五個地域組織，分別為亞洲跆拳道聯盟(ATU)、歐洲跆拳道聯盟(ETU)、泛美跆拳道聯盟(PATU)、大洋洲跆拳道聯盟(OTU)和非洲跆拳道聯盟(AFTU)。而香港則由香港跆拳道協會於一九七八年加入ATU成為成員，可直接選派合資格的運動員代表香港參加WTF主辦的世界性賽事包括奧運會、亞運會、東亞運動會、亞洲賽及世界跆拳道錦標賽等國際賽事。而香港在一九九七年十一月十九至二十三日更主辦”第十三屆世界跆拳道錦標賽及第六屆女子世界跆拳道錦標賽”，在本港體壇及跆拳歷史上寫下光輝的一頁。因此香港跆拳道協會自一九六七年成立以來就是唯一被香港特別行政區政府認可資助及認可的跆拳道組織，亦是中國香港奧委會屬下的唯一全港性跆拳道總會。 Various Korean forms of martial arts have existed but in the early 20th century, Taekwondo became the dominant form. In 1955 a group of Korean martial arts leaders chose Taekwondo as the definitive Korean martial art in an attempt to promote its development internationally. In 1973, the Korean government recognized the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) as the legitimate governing body of the sport, and the first World Championships were held in that year. The World Taekwondo Federation is the International Federation [IF] governing the sport of Taekwondo and is a member of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations [ASOIF]. The WTF recognizes national Taekwondo governing bodies recognized by the NOC in the pertinent country, one in each country, as its members. 182 Member National Association were divided into 5 Continental Taekwondo Union and Oceania Taekwondo Union was recognized as the 5th Continental Union of the WTF, bringing the number of Continental Taekwondo Unions of the WTF from 4 (Asia/Africa/Europe/Pan America) to 5 (Asia/Africa/Europe/Pan America/Oceania). Hong Kong Taekwondo Association enrolled as an member of Asia Taekwondo Union (ATU) in 1978 and hold The 13th (6th Women’s) World Taekwondo Championship in 1997. 嶺南大學跆拳道部始創於1997年。陳浩然先生是本會的創辦人兼永遠榮譽會長。前總教練謝世恆先生在四年來默默耕耘及在所有部員們的努力訓練下已為嶺南奪得二十多個獎項也成為嶺南大學奪獎最多的校隊之一。現謝世恆先生則擔任本部之顧問一職。 嶺南跆拳道部的宗旨是不論學員來自那一個道場、是新手還是黑帶，只要是嶺南人，一律一視同仁。若學員們有心求進，刻苦鍛鍊，教練都會盡心盡力去指導學員精益求精。同時讓各家的技術共融，發揮嶺南人團結精神，共同在大專盃爭取好成績。
