With the University’s motto "Education for Service", community service is always an integral part of campus life. The University tries every means to provide students with not only opportunities for participation in an active campus life but also experiences to care for the welfare of the community. With the theme "Care for CommunitySee the Connections", the Lingnan CConnects Programme aims to:

  1. raise the level of social awareness of students and encourage them to care for the community;
  2. help students to develop a right attitude in life;
  3. learn about people from different walks of life;
  4. enhance students’ organizational, management and communication skills;
  5. connect students’ experiences, own potentials and lifelong goals.

  • You are most welcome to regularly look for available volunteer services opportunities which are available in Lingnan Off-campus Volunteer Experience (L.O.V.E.). The website of L.O.V.E. is updated from time to time with new opportunities.
  • In addition, you are always encouraged to participate in many other volunteer services which are arranged on your own.

How to have your service hours counted?

Services at the University

  • For student helpers / ambassadors recruited by the Student Services Centre, your service hours contributed will be automatically recorded by the end of each term. Submission of supporting documents will not be necessary.
  • For programmes / events which are organized by other academic departments and/or administrative units of the University that you have served, please submit your service record(s), together with corresponding supporting documents^, at the CConnects Online Platform for Volunteer Service Record Submission.

    (^ A certificate / letter / email from the respective departments / units certifying the participation and the corresponding service hours contributed will be accepted.)

Structured Community Services Programmes

  • For CConnects Crew Members who have successfully completed the entire structured community services programme(s), the Student Services Centre will arrange to collect the service record(s) from the cooperating organization(s) and the service hours contributed will be automatically recorded by the end of each term.
  • Submission of supporting documents will not be necessary.

Other Community Services Opportunities

  • For CConnects Crew Members who have successfully participated in self-arranged volunteer services or those community services opportunities available in Lingnan Off-campus Volunteer Experience (L.O.V.E.), please input your service records and upload the supporting document(s) in the CConnects Online Platform for Volunteer Service Record Submission within one month upon completion of that particular volunteer service.
  • To certify your volunteer service record, please provide us with one of the following information as supporting document(s):
    • Certificate / letter issued by the corresponding organization, with the details and service hours of the volunteer service being stated
    • “Volunteer Service Record Sheet” endorsed by the corresponding organization. Please click here for downloading the template
    • Copy of record(s) as endorsed by the corresponding organization in your “Volunteer Services Record Book” (https://www.ln.edu.hk/ssc/community-services/love/service-record-book)
    • For on-campus volunteer service(s), an email from the organizing department(s)/unit(s) certifying your participation and service hours will also be accepted
    • Any other documentary proof that can certify your participation and service hour at that particular volunteer service
  • Upon submission of service record, your information will be reviewed and endorsed, if applicable, in about 10 working days. You will be informed by a separate email for the endorsement status in due course.

A one-stop online platform for you to:

  • Input your self-arranged community services records, as well as to upload the supporting documents
  • View the accumulated service hours in that particular academic year (September to August of the following year)

  1. WHO could apply?
    • Full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students of all years
    • Enthusiastic in serving the community
    • CConnects crew membership will last for whole study period at Lingnan
  2. WHAT do we expect from applicants?
    • Applicants should have a keen interest in serving the community.
    • Once enrolled, applicants should be committed to the training programmes and community service programmes / volunteer services and never be absent without unexcused reason.
  3. HOW to apply?
    • To join us as CConnects crew, interested parties are welcome to click here for online application.
    • Successful applicants will receive email confirmation.
  4. WHAT else should you know?
    • Updates of the Lingnan CConnects Programme (e.g. application schedules of various structured community service projects / community service awards / scholarships / international conferences & programmes) will be disseminated to CConnects crew via emails from time to time. CConnects crew are highly recommended to check your Lingnan email account regularly and make sure it is ready for receiving new emails.
