Orientation for Non-local Undergraduate Students

The orientation programme and activities will help you adjust to campus life and study at Lingnan. Do enjoy the exciting moments in the first few weeks on campus. Welcome Lunch cum Kick-off of LHFS 2019-20 and Orientation Talks

Welcome Lunch

 

To give you a warm welcome, you are invited to join the Welcome Lunch cum Kick-off of Lingnan Host Family Scheme (LHFS) 2019-20 hosted by the Student Services Centre on 20 August. Orientation talks will be conducted on both 16 and 20 August to help you adapt to Hong Kong as well as the University faster.

New Student Orientation (NSO) and Hostel Orientation

New Student Orientation

 

You are REQUIRED to attend

  1. the New Student Orientation (NSO) organised by the Student Services Centre from 21 to 23 August 2019 (Contingency 24 August 2019). The Official Welcome will be held in the afternoon on 21 August 2019 in the Chan Tak Tai Auditorium. All new students are required to attend. You will meet your peer mentors during NSO. They are student volunteers to help you with your adjustment to university life; and

  2. the Hostel Orientation organised by Warden's Offices and its Student Hostel Association will be held between 25 and 29 August 2019 ( 3-day-2-night or 4-day-3-night depend on which hostel you are assigned) with participation fees. For enrolment, please contact the Student Hostel Association of your hostel.

 

Briefing Session for Entrance Scholarship Recipients (for scholarship recipients only)

Entrance scholarship recipients should have generally obtained a higher cGPA for annual renewal of the scholarships as specified by the scholarship requirements. A briefing session regarding the renewal of the scholarships will be given to  scholarship recipients on 20 August.

 

Learning Workshop

You are REQUIRED to attend a Learning Workshop on teaching and learning organised by the Teaching and Learning Centre on 30 August afternoon.

 


Welcoming Session for Non-local and Exchange Students organised by Warden's Offices

You are invited to attend the Welcoming Session for Non-local and Exchange Students organised by Warden's Offices of your hostel. It is a very good opportunity to meet with the Warden, Senior Tutor and Tutors of your hostel.

Lingnan Host Family Scheme

Lingnan Host Family Scheme (LHFS) is a programme specially designed for non-local degree-seeking students to render a warm support to facilitate their adaptation to live in Lingnan as well as Hong Kong. By joining this scheme, non-local degree-seeking students can build a stronger sense of belonging, achieve a better adaptation to live in Lingnan, and get a deeper understanding of the Hong Kong society.

 

New non-local degree-seeking students who joined the scheme will be taking care by a host family who are staff members of Lingnan. Although, students will live in student hostels and not living with their host families. The host families will meet and invite the students to join their family gatherings to render care, support and a home feeling away from home for them. Students will first meet their host families at the Welcome Lunch on 20 August. Other meetings/ activities afterwards will be arranged on their own.
