Financial Assistance to Students with Disabilities

Students with disabilities are encouraged to contact the Student Services Centre (SSC), which will work out a plan for individual's assistance once the individual needs are known.

 

Students with disabilities are eligible to apply for the following:


  • Enhanced Academic Expenses Grant to Students with Special Educational Needs (Community Care Fund Assistance Programmes)

The Commission on Poverty approved on 27 March 2015 the allocation of funds from the Community Care Fund for enhancing the academic expenses grant for post-secondary students with special educational needs and financial needs for three years from the academic year 2015/16 to 2017/18.  At its meeting held on 21 June 2018, the CoP agreed to extend the programme for three academic years from 2018/19 till 2020/21. The programme will continue to operate on its existing parameters.

  • Jockey Club IT Scheme for People with Visual Impairment

Visually impaired students can apply for the high-performance Chinese screen readers and Braille display which are sponsored by the Jockey Club IT Scheme for People with Visual Impairment.  Please visit the Social Welfare Department’s website at www.swd.gov.hk and www.CyberAble.net for details.

  • Li Kwan Hung  Education Fund

  • Miss Li Ching Memorial Fund 李菁紀念基金

The fund subsidizes undergraduate students with physical disabilities for purchasing rehabilitative equipment or study-related expenditures.  The Fund shall be open for application by eligible students in October of each academic year.  Student Services Centre will send out emails, inviting applications.
