Recognition Scholarships and Prizes Administered by the University

If the value of an award exceeds HK$13,000, the scholarship shall be open for application. This may not apply to some donations where the donor has established an approval procedure, which we have to follow.  A Standing Panel of Scholarships will be set up responsible for the selection.

Eligibility and Criteria:

The Scholarhip Scheme aims to develop professionals in the insurance sector who pursue higher education in the University’s Risk and Insurance Management (“RIM”) Programme.

No. of Awards and Amount: (A) Entrance Scholarships - HK$50,000 each for 2 students; (B) Recognition Scholarships - HK$42,100 each for maximum 9 students from Year 2 to Year 4 ; (C) MSc Overseas Scholarships - approximately HK$450,000 each for maximum 3 final year students.

(A) Entrance Scholarships and (B) Recognition Scholarships - Nominations from  the Department of Finance and Insurance shall reach Student Services Centre (SSC).  SSC will arrange selection interview.

The Scholarships aim to support undergraduate students in fulfilling their early careers in curating by acquiring professional skills and gaining work experiences in museums, galleries and/or cultural institutions through short-term curatorial programmes or internships.

Eligibility and Criteria:

1. The Scholarships shall be awarded to full-time Year 4 undergraduate students, majoring in the BA (Honours) in Visual Studies.

2. Awardees should have achieved a CGPA of 3.0 or above, together with an average GPA of 3.0 or above in curatorial-related courses, such as CLB9016 Understanding Museums, VIS3399M Curating Film Festival and VIS3999A Curatorial Practice.

3. Each applicant should have obtained an admission offer of a short-term curatorial programme or a job offer of curatorial internship (the “programme” or “internship”) issued by museums, galleries and/or cultural institutions in Hong Kong, mainland China or abroad during his/her study at Lingnan University.

1. The Awards shall be awarded to 2 students regardless of their residency status, who are full-time final-year students in BBA – Accountancy Stream or students in Master of Accountancy Programme. 

2. The selection criteria for the Awards shall be on academic achievements and willingness to take CPA Australia exam upon graduation.

3. The selected candidates should meet the admission requirements for Associate membership of CPA Australia Ltd.

No. of Awards and Amount: Approximately HK$9,300 each for 2 students in the form of Assessment fee waiver, one year membership subscription fee waiver and exam fee waiver for one professional segment.

1. The Scholarship shall be awarded to a second year or above student for overall achievement and performance in his or her studies. Overall achievement and performance is not necessarily equivalent with the highest GPA., but a good GPA is required to be eligible.

2. If there are candidates of comparable academic merit, their involvement in extra-curricular activities shall also be taken into consideration.

Eligibility and Criteria:

1. The Scholarships shall be awarded to non-final year full-time undergraduate students in the Department of Accountancy in which the programme(s) is/are accredited by the Institute per annum.

2. Awardees should achieve CGPA in 80% out of 4.0 (equivalent to CGPA of 3.20) or above up to the first term of the current academic year.

3. Awardees should be in good character, possess outstanding performance in extra-curricular activities.

4. Awardees should accept an undertaking that he/she will take the Institute’s CPA Qualification Programme as the first professional accounting examination after graduation.

No. of Awards and Amount: HK$6,000 each for 2 students

Particulars of the nominees, together with (1) a letter of recommendation from Department and (2) a piece of self-statement (around 200 to 300 words, either English or Chinese), illustrating the reasons of applying the scholarship, should be submitted to Student Services Centre.

The Institute shall present the awards at the Award Ceremony for QP top students and scholarship recipients which will be held in September each year.

1. The Scholarship shall be awarded to 1 full-time undergraduate student in any discipline.

2. The awardee should achieve the highest CGPA among the three faculties which in any way should not be less than CGPA 3.00.

3. In case of candidates with comparable academic merits, their involvements in extra-curricular activities and social services shall also be taken into consideration.
