In this seminar, Mr. Philip Mendes will provide some insights to give audiences the edge in making proposals to venture capitalists and potential investors. He will provide the answers of the following questions:

What goes through a venture capitalist’s mind – or any investor’s mind - as the venture capitalist – or investor - is reading a business plan and considering making an investment into a start-up company? What will motivate them to read the whole of the business plan’s executive summary? What will motivate them to make your business plan the one that they read beyond just the executive summary? What operates most highly in their mind as the most important criteria by which they assess the level of the attractiveness of an investment opportunity? What threshold of attractiveness does the investment opportunity need to reach?

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: PHILIP MENDES

Philip Mendes was a technology transactions lawyer for 25 years, assisting universities, research institutes, as well as start-up and mature companies in Australia and other countries in relation to their capital raising, and intellectual property licensing and commercialisation activities, before retiring from practice in 2015.

He is an Adjunct Professor at the Queensland University of Technology where he teaches intellectual property commercialisation and management. He also conducts executive training on intellectual property commercialisation and management throughout Asia.
