Education Manager (Technology)’s Profile

Expertise of Education Manager (Technology) – James CHONG (PhD Candidate)

James is a versatile and experienced information system developer, database administrator, IT project supervisor and education technologist with demonstrated, hands-on experience in education software system development and integration. He is adept at combining management objectives with technology, creating strategies and directions with focuses on realistic solutions. He expertly plans and coordinates detailed tasks in line with quality standards, within established deadlines, and subject to budgetary requirements.

During his career in Lingnan University, not only has he supported and manage existing university-wide T&L technology services but also been engaged in new UGC-funded projects and the Knowledge Transfer (KT) projects. He has managed and coordinated university-wide projects, services and systems (e.g. IT Fluency programme, POMS, and University’s ePortfolio system etc.) and developed new software applications (e.g. the QAC online document repository, the ITF registration system and an online system for plagiarism awareness which is used by all students) hands-on working to tight deadlines.

The POMS system helps the Faculty of Business collect OBATL data and generate reports to pass the 5-year AACSB accreditation exercise since 2012/13 whilst the university-wide IT Fluency programme is a graduation requirement, which is mission-critical. In addition, James have also helped the Registry to develop the QAC web document access repository that was a critical factor during the 2016 UGC QAC Audit.
