The primary objective of this project is to establish a centralized hub that promotes and specializes in the development, assessment and evidence of holistic competencies, ensuring that these competencies are explicitly integrated into the higher education curriculum including across in-class, out-of-class and extracurricular platforms.

This cross-institutional UGC-funded project, with the collaboration of 6 UGC-funded institutions in Hong Kong including Lingnan University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Baptist University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Education University of Hong Kong and The University of Hong Kong (The PI), will arrange holistic workshops and  focus group interviews with students, organize professional development workshops for teachers and conduct qualitative research with academics who are engaging in good pedagogical practices for the development and assessment of holistic competencies in their home institution. The collaborators at each institution will contribute significantly to the development of workshop activities, especially through the sharing of their expertise and experiences at their home institution. Holistic competency workshops, the Cultural Exchange Programme, and the existing opportunity to develop holistic competencies through residential education are the main components in the development and assessment of students holistic competencies. Surveys will also be conducted to gather students perceptions on holistic competencies. The resulting ideas and methods to address these needs will be integrated into curriculum design.
