Subsite Background

The Research Method of 14-21 days Compulsory Solitary hotel Quarantine

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic around the world in 2020, the movement of people has been greatly restricted, and people entering from other places and foreign countries are often subject to quarantine, and unless they bring their relatives, they are generally isolated separately. Taking entry into mainland China as an example, they must undergo 14 or even 21 days of designated hotel quarantine. Although quarantined personnel can maintain contact with the outside world by using mobile phones and computers, isolated isolation can also cause psychological pressure and even negative emotional and behavioral effects. This study aimed to investigate the psychological stress and its impact of hotel solitary quarantine for 14-21 days, and to investigate the moderating effect of this stress by using interventions such as growth mindset.

Research Method

The researchers contacted each participant individually (the participants in this study were mainly those who were quarantine for 14 days) via WeChat, and based on the time when the participants began to quarantine at the following three time points, and invite them to fill a questionnaire with scales by scan QR codes via mobile phone or web links via computer  to obtain their physical and mental status. T1: Invited participants to fill questionnaires right after they check into the quarantine hotel, usually on the first or second day depending on their check in time; T2: Invited participants to fill the same questionnaire on the eighth or ninth day in order to chase the changes of their physical and mental status. T3: Invited participants to fill out the same questionnaires again on the thirteenth or fourteenth day to continue tracking their physical and mental changes.
