駐校藝術家講座 ─ 左

Abstract

LEFT

It’s hard to imagine that left-handers were once treated as devils, sons of Satan, sinners, and the abominable. It’s disheartening for me, a left-hander.  In the same token, I find it inconceivable that nowadays certain people in our society – those who have peculiar needs, abilities and personal styles, or atypical sexual orientation, or aberrant backgrounds – are being prejudiced against and looked down upon.

Through my series of artwork, Left, I pay tribute to this group of people – those who do not have the “right” behavior, thinking and life style, and are therefore being discriminated against and forsaken by society.

About YU Bellini Guy Tse

Bellini received her BA in Social Sciences from Lingnan University, Hong Kong, in 2007, and BA in Fine Arts from RMIT University (co-presented with Hong Kong Art School) in 2011. Since 2008, she has been working in the field of rehabilitation, employing art as a rehabilitative tool. Her works are primarily initiated by disadvantaged groups. She uses objects, shadows and sounds as her medium, through which she makes connections with people around her. Her works were presented in Exhibition Hall of Hong Kong Shatin Town Hall, Pao Galleries of Hong Kong Arts Centre, Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre and China Art Projects (HK). She debuted her first installation art solo exhibition in 2013 in JCCAC.

於二零零七年獲香港嶺南大學社會學(榮譽)學士及二零一一年獲澳洲皇家墨爾本理工大學(香港藝術學院合辦)藝術學士。自二零零八年起，她一直致力推動復康人士的藝術發展。她的作品多以社會上的弱勢社群出發，以物件、聲及影作創作媒體，從與別人的聯繫，以裝置藝術表達自己。她的作品曾於香港沙田大會堂展廳、香港藝術中心包氏畫廊、香港視覺藝術中心及中國藝術項目(香港空間)展出。她亦於二零一三年在香港賽馬會創意藝術中心作首次個人裝置藝術展覽。)
