Description

This seminar, conducted by the RTHK Quartet, will introduce the string quartet form (two violins, viola, and cello) in Western classical chamber music. It will also reveal how a classical Western string quartet can play together with a Chinese instrument. The Quartet, along with its guest musician and seminar host, will discuss and demonstrate key chamber music elements, illustrating them by performing short excerpts from major classical and contemporary works. Students will have the opportunity to meet and ask questions of the musicians, all professional instrumentalists.
