Dinner for Graduating Students 2023

Dinner for Graduating Students is a fine tradition of Lingnan University and this year marks the 25th anniversary of the event. Over 300 guests, including graduating students of Class of 2023, members of the Council and Court, staff members, and alumni attended Dinner for Graduating Students 2023 at Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers on 16 May 2023 with their best wishes to the graduating students.

Mr Augustine Wong, Deputy Chairman of the Council, and Prof Leonard K Cheng, President of the University, delivered speeches at the Dinner encouraging all graduating students to make good use of the qualities they cultivated under the liberal arts education so as to contribute to their workplace and the society. They also encouraged graduating students to stay connected with the alma mater.

Besides, Lingnan University Alumni Association (Hong Kong) (LUAA), Lingnan University Undergraduate Alumni Association (LUUAA) and Lingnan University Postgraduate Alumni Association (LUPAA) were invited to speak to graduate students at the Dinner. They encouraged all graduates to actively participate in alumni activities and events. By participating, graduates can have the opportunity to connect with fellow graduates and build professional network.

This year, Prof Leonard K Cheng will be retired after the completion of his current term. A farewell session was held with the President, to give graduates the opportunity to express their appreciation for his support and leadership. A collaboration by Lingnan University Christian Choir and a graduating student, Zhan Aifan (2023, BA in Chinese) made a great success in the session. The singing performance and heartwarming speech were a touching tribute to the President, expressing their admiration and gratitude wholeheartedly.

Two graduating students, Ringo Wong (2023, BA in Contemporary English Studies) and Charlie Wan (2023, MSc in Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship), delivered their graduation speeches during the Dinner to express their sincere gratitude to the tremendous resources and supports from the University over the years.

This year's graduation dinner was extra special, as it introduced a dress code “Renaissance” for the first time and launched the “Best Dress Award” to recognise graduates who dressed to impress. It was thrilled to report that it was a big success, with numerous graduates taking the opportunity to showcase their style. It was truly a delightful evening filled with laughter and blessings!
