Twelve mainland scholars and senior administrators were at Lingnan University in November 2010 for a one-week exchange programme. During their stay, they met with staff of Lingnan’s academic departments and administrative units as well as participated in student activities to gain a better understanding of the University’s liberal arts education.

The exchange programme is a philanthropic act of Dr Tin Ka-ping who is a staunch supporter of Lingnan’s liberal arts education. He donated HK$3 million to the University in 2008 which became HK$6 million with the government’s matching grant. The University subsequently set up the Tin Ka Ping Education Fund to finance the exchange programme with the aim to promote liberal arts education in Mainland China.

Ten institutions participated in the programme this year. They included Fudan University, China Three Gorges University, Guandong University of Education, Hainan University, Hubei University, Jiaying University, Shanghai Finance University, Sichuan Normal University, South China University of Technology and Southwestern University of Finance and Economics.
