A Launching Ceremony of the Jockey Club Intergenerational Communication and Health Promotion Programme was held on 29 September 2017 with over 200 participants. The ceremony was officiated by Mr Horace Lit, Senior Charities Manager of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, Mr Simon Ip, Deputy Chairman of the Council and President Leonard K Cheng.

The Jockey Club Intergenerational Communication and Health Promotion Programme is a 3-year community service programme, organized by the Asia Pacific Institute of Ageing Studies of Lingnan University and supported by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. Through collaboration between different stakeholders, including hospitals, elderly centres, Elder Academy, tertiary education institutes and secondary schools in Tuen Mun and Yuen Long districts, the Programme helps nurture intergenerational solidarity by young and senior partnership, and improves knowledge and skills on active ageing and healthy living. It also trains a group of young and senior volunteers to promote intergenerational communication and collaboration in communities. The programme will conduct health assessments for the elderly in communities, to advocate early disease prevention and timely referral services; and strengthen the role of community stakeholders in active and healthy collaboration projects.
