Tin Ka Ping Foundation Donation Ceremony

Lingnan University has received a generous donation of HK$5 million from the Tin Ka Ping Foundation (the Foundation) in support of “Lingnan University Chinese Cultural Project”, “Students and Happy Ageing with Chinese Medicine Project”, exchange programmes and student development initiatives among cross-strait four-region.

In appreciation of the Foundation’s support, the Tin Ka Ping Foundation Donation Ceremony was held on 5 November 2019. The Ceremony was officiated by Mr Tin Hing-sin, Chairman of the Foundation, and Mr Tin Wing-sin, Board Director.

Since 1995, the Foundation has been rendering its support to the University, including the Tin Ka Ping Swimming Pool, Tin Ka Ping Student Loan Scheme and the establishment of Tin Ka Ping Education Fund. In 2017, an additional donation of HK$3 million in support of Chinese culture and student training projects was made. This year, the Foundation contributed another HK$5 million, together with the matching grant obtained from the Government’s Eighth Matching Grant Scheme, totalling HK$10 million for funding the “Lingnan University Chinese Cultural Project”, “Students and Happy Ageing with Chinese Medicine Project”, cross-strait four-region exchange programmes and student development programmes.

The aim of launching the ‘Lingnan University Chinese Cultural Project’ is to promote Chinese cultural education to the public by organizing public talks delivered by distinguished scholars in Chinese culture and cultural studies, and holding ‘Lingnan Journal of Chinese Studies Distinguished Lecture Series’ in the higher education sector. In addition, the ‘Students and Happy Ageing with Chinese Medicine Project’ to be launched soon is to train up young people to become ‘Health Ambassadors of Happy Ageing with Chinese Medicine’ and ‘Promotion Leaders of Chinese Medicine’. Lingnan University will also organize talk series on Chinese medicine for elderly health. It is expected to transfer the knowledge base of Chinese medicine and traditional Chinese Culture across all age groups.
