The China Economic Research Programme（CERP）of Lingnan University, together with the Global Affairs Office of The Education University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Higher Education Convergence, Hong Kong Youth Association co-organised the Closing Ceremony of “Linking You to Innovation - Entrepreneurial Training and Internship Programme 2024-Shenzhen.”
On August 8, 2024, CERP of Lingnan University hosted the closing ceremony for the “Linking You to Innovation - Entrepreneurial Training and Internship Programme 2024-Shenzhen”. This event was co-organized by the Office of Student Affairs of Lingnan University, the Global Affairs Office The Education University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Higher Education Convergence, and the Hong Kong Youth Association. The programme brought together nearly 50 students from various universities in Hong Kong for a fire-week internship in Shenzhen.
During the ceremony, Mr. SIU Koon Ming, Director of the Global Affairs Office of The Education University of Hong Kong and Council Member of the Hong Kong Higher Education Convergence, emphasized that this internship programme provided Hong Kong youth with practical opportunities and workplace experience. It helped them understand the working environment and processes in the Greater Bay Area, enhancing their practical and adaptive skills, thereby laying a solid foundation for their future employment and development. Ms. NG Wai Ming Irene, Director of Student Affairs of Lingnan University, highlighted the significance of the scheme by creatively referencing the programme name. She encouraged the students to draw from this internship experience, injecting more motivation and competitiveness into their future career paths.
Dr. Philip Wong, Deputy Director of the China Economic Research Programme of Lingnan University, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the supporting institutions and internship companies. He praised the students for their active participation in visits and internship projects in Shenzhen, hoping they would apply what they learned and showcase their talents on a broader stage in the future.
Mr. Tommy Chung, Chairman of the Hong Kong Youth Association, expressed delight in seeing that the students not only participated in internships within enterprises but also engaged in a series of cultural-related activities. He emphasized the significance of cultural heritage, particularly the students' interest in intangible cultural heritage.
Lastly, Ms. Esther Hui, Founding Chairman of the Greater Bay Area Dream Hub For Youth, praised the progress made by the students during this period. She mentioned that the internship enterprises gave unanimous positive feedback. Ms. Hui encouraged the students to step out of their comfort zones. She expressed her hope to see more Hong Kong youth willing to visit, explore, and even develop their careers in the Greater Bay Area in the future.
After the speeches, students presented their experiences and insights gained during their internships. One student highlighted the weekend activities in Shenzhen, especially the Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Cultural Exchange Week, including visits to the National Quantum Research Institute, and the Guan Shanyue Art Museum's "Pilgrimage to Dunhuang" exhibition. They also interacted and exchanged ideas with representatives of intangible cultural heritage and experienced traditional handicrafts. Finally, representatives from the organizing and supporting institutions presented internship certificates to the participating students.
