Dr. Kefan Chen joined Lingnan University as a Lecturer in the Department of Economics in 2026. He obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from McGill University, his M.A. in Economics from the University of British Columbia, and his B.Sc. from the University of Toronto. His research interests are in development economics, political economy, and Chinese economy. His current research focuses on how institutions, political incentives, and public policies shape firm behavior, local governance, and economic development. More broadly, he studies how institutional design affects economic and social outcomes, particularly in settings where the state plays a central role in structuring markets and shaping resource allocation. |
