Dear Colleagues and Students,
In view of the increasing number of events involving work-at-height, the Committee would like to provide information to all stakeholders.
Referencing the information of the Labour Department, work-above-ground means carrying out the work at less than 2 metres above the ground, while work-at-height means carrying out the work at 2 metres or more above the ground.
For work-above-ground, use mobile working platforms or light-duty working platforms; while for work-at-height, use scaffolds or a power-operated elevating work platform. Please note that ladders (including straight and folding ladders), are usually used for ascending and descending purposes only. It is unsafe to use ladders for work purpose. For details, please refer to the Overview of Work-at-height Safety issued by the Labour Department.
All stakeholders must observe the Safety Policy of the University, and must comply with the health and safety requirements when planning and conducting activities and avoid acts or negligence that may adversely affect the health and safety of yourself and others.
