Happy Chinese New Year!

In the Chinese zodiac, the snake is associated with wisdom, resilience, and transformation. In this Year of the Snake, the Library will continue to thrive with renewed energy and carry on the transformation journey under the new leadership of the Vice President (Administration), Mr Ernest Chan. I also wish all of you happiness and success in the year ahead.

We are committed to supporting your research and learning journey with our utmost efforts. In 2024/25 Term 1, we enhanced our collections with significant purchases in different disciplines and signed more transformative agreements with various publishers. Together with our Open Access Publishing Support Fund, the Library has supported a total of 75 articles to become Open Access since 2022. Our Research Support team has also launched a new Lingnan Data Repository to assist you in managing your research data.

Your learning needs are our priority. We revised our policy to allow only students to book our study rooms. We piloted the use of IoT sensors to monitor the use of study seats to avoid seat hogging, especially during examinations. We replaced the old entrance gate with the latest model featuring a super-silent operation. All these improvements aim at providing an inspiring and conducive atmosphere for learning. Furthermore, we updated the 1-Search platform with an integrated way to browse the Library’s subscribed databases and introduced 1-Search Research Assistant with GAI capability in beta to assist you in searching and retrieving relevant information. In the upcoming library workshops, my colleagues will introduce these tools. Please provide us with your valuable feedback!
