Taught Postgraduate Programmes's Study Tour to Singapore in 2024

The captivating 6-day, 5-night study tour to Singapore was organized by the Taught Postgraduate Programmes Office (TPO) and led by Professor Yan Aihua. With 40 taught postgraduate students from various programmes in the Faculty of Business, including the MSceBSCM Programme, the study trip not only enriched the students' academic perspectives, but also deepened their understanding of Singaporean culture, business, and technological innovation.
The three-day experience in Singapore Management University (SMU) is the highlight of this study trip. SMU is a university of international repute, where the Business School is dedicated to cultivating future business leaders, attracting students from around the globe with its outstanding academic research and comprehensive course offerings.
The morning lecture at SMU was led by Dr. Yuanto Kusnadi, the SMU-X Program Academic Director and Associate Professor at the School of Accountancy. The focus was on the theme "Digital Transformation and Business Model Canvas", providing an in-depth analysis of digital transformation and business model innovation.
Following the interactive session with Dr. Yuanto, Ms. Sylvia Ong, Business Relations Manager at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), shared insights on career development in the context of digital transformation. Dr. Yuanto then led the students on a tour of the SMU campus, leaving a deep impression with its beautiful environment and complete facilities.
Apart from SMU, students also had the opportunity to visit various organizations and companies in Singapore. The students' visit to the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) Gallery provided an in-depth understanding of the development history of Singapore's financial and monetary system, as well as the application of technological innovation in finance, economics, and society, offering a more intuitive understanding of Singapore's financial system.
At the Halogen Foundation Singapore, an NGO dedicated to youth leadership development, CEO Ms. Ivy Tse and Head Consultant Mr. Lee Sze Zhin prepared leadership training for the students. The training covered key topics such as the cognition and shaping of youth values, as well as the essence and practice of leadership. The students were inspired to apply leadership principles and initiate positive developments.
The visit to Mazars Singapore office allowed the students to learn about the secrets of risk advisory and financial consulting, the importance of corporate digital transformation and sustainable development. There was also a lively Q&A session where students explored the job market and career development paths in Singapore, providing the students with inspiration as they consider their future career path.
Finally, the students' visit to Richemont Group, a world-renowned luxury goods company, provided insights into the origin, development, and unique design philosophy of its watch brand PANERAI, as well as the company's development in the digital economy and its pursuit of sustainable development.
During the study tour, the students also had the opportunity to visit iconic landmarks, taste local delicacies, and experience the modernity and historical heritage of Singapore, further enriching their cultural experiences and personal development.
This study tour to Singapore provided students with an opportunity for academic gains, cultural experiences, and personal growth. Each student found their direction and strength during this journey, returning to Hong Kong with abundant harvests and infinite hopes for the future.
