Vision

Our vision is to establish Lingnan University as an international hub for cognitive science that advances fundamental understanding of the human mind while shaping the future of human-centred artificial intelligence. We aspire to bridge disciplines, methodologies, and cultures to reveal how cognition emerges from brain, behaviour, and context, and how these insights can guide the design of intelligent technologies. By integrating experimental rigor with real-world relevance, the Centre seeks to generate knowledge that enhances human well-being, informs public policy, and strengthens society’s capacity to navigate an increasingly complex, data-driven world. We envision a research community that is intellectually open, globally connected, and committed to scientific excellence, innovation, and social impact.

Mission

Our mission is to foster interdisciplinary research in cognitive science by bringing together expertise in psychology, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, philosophy, and data science. The Centre conducts rigorous experimental and computational research using state-of-the-art methods such as behavioural experimentation, neurophysiological recording, and advanced data analytics to investigate perception, decision-making, learning, and human-technology interaction. We aim to support collaborative research platforms, nurture early-career researchers and students, and promote international exchange through seminars, conferences, and joint projects. Through translational and knowledge-transfer activities, the Centre seeks to apply cognitive science insights to societal challenges in health, education, aging, work, and technology, contributing evidence-based solutions that improve quality of life and inform the development of ethical and human-centred intelligent systems.
