Message from Programme Director

The study and application of knowledge on human behaviours in everyday lives have become fundamental feature in all sectors. The strive of both public and private agencies to meet the ever-diversifying human needs and expectations continue to call for workforce who understand human behaviours in various sectors and possess the tools to apply their knowledge in real life. The MSocSc in Applied Psychology programme (MAP) at Lingnan University will train students who can contribute to this workforce needs of Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area and beyond. The MAP programme is designed for students without such background but aiming to pursue career in sectors such as non-governmental organisations (NGOs), healthcare, counselling, education, human resources, marketing, and communication.

Students may opt for a concentration in Counselling Psychology concentration within the curriculum of MAP by completing four specific elective courses. This Concentration aims to provide students with systematic and comprehensive training in theoretical frameworks in counselling psychology. Students will be trained to integrate theories and practice, to generate new insights for the continual development of professional practice by advancing their study in the future.

Graduates are eligible to apply for graduate membership of the Hong Kong Psychological Society (HKPS). They can also advance their study for research postgraduate degrees in psychology or related fields, as well as enrol in professional programmes such as clinical, educational, industrial/organizational and counselling psychology.
