On April 22, 2023, the Mastering AI through Gamification Programme funded by the Gifted Education Fund held its closing ceremony and final showcase event. This event provided students with the opportunity to share their learning outcomes after immersing themselves in the exciting world of AI over the past year.
We were honored to have distinguished guests at the event, including Ms. Joanne CHONG Sze Pui, MH, Member of the Advisory Committee on Gifted Education (ACGE) of the Education Bureau, Mr. Borromeo Li, Curriculum Development Officer (Gifted Education) from the Education Bureau, Mr. Li Stapler, Executive Committee Member of Hong Kong Electronics & Technologies Association, Professor Mok Ka Ho, Vice-President and Lam Tsan Chair Professor of Comparative Policy of Lingnan University, Dr. Ir. Rosiah Ho from LEO Dr David P Chan Institute of Data Science of Lingnan University and Professor See-To Wing Kuen from the Department of Computing & Decision Sciences of Lingnan University. In addition, more than 50 teachers and parents and 28 students were also invited to join the showcase event.
During the showcase event, students competed for different awards such as AI master award, best presentation award, and creativity award by demonstrating their newly acquired AI programming skills, creating a presentation, and demonstrating how it works. Parents and students expressed great interests in our event, and we received a lot of positive feedback from them.
The showcase event helped students increase their teamwork skills and presentation skills. In the group project development procedure, students developed their hands-on and minds-on coding abilities and problem-solving skills to implement AI projects in a gamified environment. Students were excited about their projects and were highly motivated to learn more about AI.
