Prof. XIE Haoran is the Professor and Person-in-Charge at the Division of Artificial Intelligence, serve as the Associate Dean of the School of Data Science, the Director of the LEO Dr David P. Chan Institute of Data Science and the Prgramme Director of the Bachelor of Science in Data Science at Lingnan University, Hong Kong. He is the Co-Editor-in-Chief of Knowledge Management & E-Learning (The University of Hong Kong), Editor-in-Chief of Natural Language Processing Journal (Elsevier), Computers & Education: X Reality (Elsevier), Computers & Education: Artificial Intelligence (Elsevier), and Artificial Intelligence in Language Education (Castledown), the Associate Editors of International Journal of Machine Learning and Cybernetics (Springer), Array (Elseiver), International Journal of Mobile Learning and Organisation (InderScience), and Australasian Journal of Educational Technology (till 2022). He has totally published 468 research publications including 283 journal articles (74 papers as first or corresponding author), 7 edited books, 70 book chapters, 102 conference proceedings and 6 patents. Among all 283 journal articles, there are 225 SCI/SSCI indexed, including IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing, IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, Computers & Education, British Journal of Educational Technology, Education Technology & Society, Education and Information Technologies and so on. Among all book chapters and conference proceedings, there are many papers from top-tier conferences like AAAI, ACM MM, CVPR, ICCV, ACL, EMNLP, IJCAI, CIKM, and so on. He has served as 18 guest editors in special issues of journals, editors of 7 books, organization committee chairs/members of more than 59 conferences, and reviewers of 40 international journals. Till November 2025, his totally Google Scholar citation counts is 28665, h-index is 66, and i-10 index is 237 at Google Scholar. One of his work about Least squares generative adversarial networks (LSGAN) which has received more than 6878 citations ins Google Scholar, published in ICCV 2017 and TPAMI 2019, included by computer science courses of Stanford University and National Taiwan University, and implemented by Google TensorFlow.
