Organized by the Lingnan University STEAM Education and Research Centre, in collaboration with Fu Tai Elderly Home and the Hong Kong Old Age Nursing Association Limited, the “STEAM 'Smart Elderly' Activity at Elderly Home (cum staff training) ” was successfully held on January 26, 2024.

On that day, several staff members from the Lingnan University STEAM Education and Research Center visited the Fuh Tai Nursing Home, bringing an engaging and fun STEAM class centered around music for the elderly.

First, the staff led the elderly in listening to music and clapping along to the beat, introducing basic concepts like rhythm. The elderly enthusiastically participated by clapping along to familiar songs.

Next, they played a game where the elderly guessed song titles, creating a lively atmosphere in the class. The elderly were delighted to receive prizes after the game.

After the song-guessing game, the staff used violin to deepen the understanding of the class content, explaining concepts like the components of a violin. The class ended with the staff playing the violin, immersing the elderly in the melodious music and enhancing their understanding of music.

In the future, we will continue to organize more STEAM courses to provide the elderly with enjoyable and beneficial learning experiences, helping them enrich their lives and expand their knowledge.
