My CPA storybook was filled with more than just lectures. Its most exciting chapters were written during our field trips—from observing governance in action at the Hong Kong Legislative Council to attending police anti-scam talks. These experiences made concepts like public policy and citizen engagement tangible.
On campus, I was constantly motivated by the genuine passion and selfless support of our professors, who were always ready to guide us. This inspiring environment fueled my growth through challenging group projects and presentations, which honed my teamwork and public speaking skills. The lively debates with professors and peers on policy analysis and stakeholder management didn’t just broaden my perspective—they built my confidence.
What made CPA truly special was its warm, family-like atmosphere. Spontaneous class trips taught me that growth isn’t just about knowledge, but also friendship, cultural exchange, and balancing work with joy.This holistic journey revealed a version of myself I hadn't known—capable of grappling with complex ideas and thriving independently. CPA was more than a master's programme; it was a year that unlocked a person I was excited to become.

CUI Yiheng (Graduated from AY2024-25)
The CPA program covers a wide range of content. By comparing the political systems of different countries and regions, it helps us understand the operation of the world machine, cultivates our international perspective, and enhances our ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.
Our course will teach some statistical methods, so as to better analyze and study policies by using data. In addition, representatives from various fields will also be invited to share. For instance, the staff of WWF vividly demonstrated the policy knowledge and daily work in the field of animal protection with specific examples.
Of course, our study was not limited to theory. We also visited places such as the ICAC and the Ngau Tau Kok Police Station, gaining a deep understanding of the daily work of these institutions. At the ICAC, through watching videos and attending Q&A sessions, we gained a better understanding of the real work of the ICAC. At the police station, we attended a lecture on cyber security to learn how to navigate the cyber security landscape.
The one year of study in the CPA program at Lingnan University is a very precious memory for my entire life.
LAI Bo Tak (Graduated from AY2024-25)
I value my time in the Master of Comparative Public Administration (CPA) program as an integral part of my life. This program has helped me appreciate the convergence of theory and practice, equipping me to engage with the system of global public administration critically. Working with different case studies, conferences and visits helped me grasp the geopolitical, economic, and social district factors that affect public governance. Each case study contributed to my ability to appreciate the varying public policies' administrative frameworks and gain value of the policy's effectiveness. Studying with classmates from different backgrounds has been the forerunner of my academic career. This has been the basis of my rich academic conversations on the social cultural administrative practices of governance.
In addition to the last point the program provides for the guidance of the faculty to initiate research in the field of public administration. Faculty support has encouraged and nurtured my academic focus and public service. In the realm of public administration, the CPA program has inspired me to make a positive change. I am excited to carry these lessons into my future career.
ZHAO Yifeng (Graduated from AY2024-25)
Joining the CPA Program was like becoming part of a big family filled with a strong learning atmosphere, unity and friendship support. During this learning journey, I gained a deeper understanding of the research areas, significance and social value of public administration as a discipline. Throughout the program, professors often guided us to adopt a comparative analysis perspective, enabling us to examine public policies across different countries, regions and social contexts and to explore management approaches and solutions to various social issues. Through professors' teachings and academic discussions with classmates, I enhanced my ability to practically apply professional knowledge.
Meanwhile, the professors were extremely patient and responsible, providing us with diverse learning and exchange experiences. They frequently invited scholars to give lectures and seminars, led us on study visits, and organized class outings. These activities not only enriched our knowledge system but also allowed us to immerse ourselves in Hong Kong's society, experience daily life, identify more public policy issues, and acquire additional professional knowledge through enjoyable experiences.
Studying at Lingnan University has made my academic career more colorful and fulfilling. I will always cherish the memories of my time in the CPA Program and wish everyone a successful future!
