Synopsis

This seminar will highlight some to the major educational policy trends that influence the global education in the last decade or so, point out the major challenges for their implementations for educational management, and discuss what is lacking but is much needed for future considerations.

Biography of Speaker

Xu Di is a professor and graduate chair in the Department of Education Foundations at University of Hawai‘i-Mānoa. She received her doctoral degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is a member for national accreditation for teacher education programs in the United States since 2007 for CAEP. Her recent publications focus on bridging Eastern and Western philosophy for educational practices. Her research interests are in educational philosophy, leadership, international education, and teacher education. She has worked as an international consultant for the World Bank. She was a visiting scholar and research associate at the Philosophy of Educational Research Center at Harvard University, a visiting professor in Peking University and Renmin University, and an exchange professor at National Kaohsiung University in Taiwan. She served as manuscript editor as well as editorial board member for Harvard Educational Reviewduring 1988–1990. She was honored five times in Who’s Who among American Teachers.
