Postgraduate Summer School 2024

 

Introduction

Lingnan University, Hong Kong and University of Oxford, the United Kingdom will co-host the Postgraduate Summer School 2024. Participants joining the Postgraduate Summer School programme will stay one week at Lingnan University, and a selective number of them will go to University of Oxford for two-week stay in enhancing their learning experience. In collaboration with leading institutions in Asia and the UK, the Summer School provides a platform for scholars and research postgraduate students to present their major research findings, share research practices and reflect upon essential methodological issues.

  • To exchange with international scholars from leading institutions in Asia and the UK.
  • To explore multiple research methods for conducting research through tailor-made workshops both at Lingnan University and University of Oxford.
  • To strengthen language proficiency and writing skills to facilitate effective communication and interaction in academic and social contexts.
  • To engage in intriguing sharing of research practices with finest academics and postgraduate students from different universities.
  • To explore possibilities to develop research clusters for promoting research collaborations and international publications.
  • To know about Hong Kong and Oxford via fascinating site visits.

*Including flight time: The Outbound Flight departs from Hong Kong (HKG) to London Heathrow (LHR) on 30 June 2024; the return journey from London Heathrow (LHR) to Hong Kong (HKG) is scheduled for 14 July 2024.

Key Timeline

  • Registration Deadline for joining both Hong Kong and UK sessions/applying for on-campus accommodation for Hong Kong session: please click here to register by 19 February 2024.
  • Confirmation of Acceptance: Upon selection, confirmation of acceptance will be sent to successful applicants at the beginning of March 2024. Candidates will be required to acknowledge receipt and accept the offer via email by a specified deadline in mid-March (to be announced).
  • HK Session Accommodation Payment Deadline: Candidates will be required to settle the required payment by a specified deadline in mid-March (to be announced).
  • UK Session Payment Deadline: Candidates will be required to settle the required payment by a specified deadline in mid-March (to be announced).

Important Notes

  • All fees are subject to final confirmation by the University.
  • All fees paid are non-refundable unless otherwise specified.
  • Late payment will not be accepted and will be considered as forfeit of your place in the programme.
  • For HK session, all costs related to air tickets and travel insurance will not be covered by the University.
  • The programme fee of UK session includes tuition, materials, accommodation, meals, study tour, activities and airport transfers.
  • To ensure safety and coordination with other universities, Lingnan University will manage the booking of round-trip flights between Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, as well as provide group insurance for the duration of the UK session from 30 June to 14 July 2024. Details regarding flight arrangements and insurance will be notified to the selected candidates.
  • Further announcements about the ticket arrangement will be made in late April 2024.
  • Students, who will join the 2-week programme at Hertford College, University of Oxford, should arrange the return ticket on your own from Hong Kong to your home country accordingly.
