China Economic Research Programme (CERP), Lingnan University jointly organized a one-day visit to Shenzhen Bao’an with the Federation of Hong Kong Shenzhen Associations, Shenzhen Hong Kong Youths Development Programme, Global Affairs Office, the Education University of Hong Kong and Immersive Experiences of National Affairs on 27 May 2023. Professor HO Lok-sang, Director of CERP led more than 40 students to visit the “Light of the Bay Area” Ferris Wheel, China-Germany (Europe) Industrial Park and Shenzhen Hangsheng Electronics Co., Ltd. Participants exchanged views on opportunities for Shenzhen’s entrepreneurship and local economic development with business representatives and young adults.

The first stop was the “Light of the Bay Area” Ferris wheel, a landmark in Bao’an. The students expressed that the entire Bao’an District had a spectacular view while looking at the city from the Ferris wheel.



The second site visit was Taihua Wutong Village Entrepreneurship Base. The base not only has unique offices, but also service apartments and coffee shops, allowing junior entrepreneurs to facilitate their networking and business meetings.





In the afternoon, the students visited TRUMPF China Co. Ltd. in the Sino-German (European) Industrial Park. TRUMPF is one of the largest machine tool suppliers in the world, focusing on leading technologies such as laser cutting. In recent years, TRUMPF has been committed to the research and development of digitization, automation and intelligence. The detailed and professional explanation given by the person in charge of TRUMPF was insightful and deepened the students’ understanding of China’s latest laser cutting and other technologies.





The last stop was Shenzhen Hangsheng Electronics Co., Ltd. Founded in 1993, Hangsheng is one of the leading companies in China’s automotive electronics industry. The company’s products and services include smart cockpits, AI driving, networking, digital software service systems and new energy vehicles. Students were particularly interested in the company’s development prospects and future career opportunities.





This visit gave students the opportunity to gain a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the latest developments in Bao’an District, Shenzhen.
