Lingnanians Attend Launch of New Language and Culture Exchange Programme
Around eighty Lingnan University students signed up for the new inter-institutional collaborative project of which the Centre is a participating member. The project, named BRIDGE, matches up students from four Hong Kong universities (Lingnan University, along with Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and the City University of Hong Kong) with their peers based on their interests, hobbies and language learning wishes to engage in language exchange meetings across the semester.
The project was officially launched on Saturday 19th September 2026 with a Meet My Partner event at Baptist University. At the event, Mr. Ryan Windsor (Senior Lecturer, CEAL) and lecturers from the other universities welcomed around 400 students with an exciting array of games and activities to help the participating students build up confidence before meeting their partners. Mr. Windsor ran an activity about gestures and their differing meanings across the world to help students gain intercultural competence before they start their journeys. Students on the programme are expected to meet at least five times across the semester and keep reflective logs about what they learned and what they need to improve. The project will run for three academic years and more information about it can be found at: https://lcbridge.hkbu.edu.hk/
