Prior to joining CEAL at Lingnan University, Lawrence accumulated over 23 years of experience in higher education, specializing in English language teaching, curriculum development, student support, and academic leadership. Lawrence has extensive experience teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP), English as a Second Language (ESL), and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) to students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, ranging from university pathway students to those preparing for undergraduate and postgraduate study.

Lawrence has held academic leadership and teaching positions at institutions including Curtin Singapore, Trinity College at the University of Melbourne, and Hawthorn-Melbourne (Navitas), where he delivered and assessed high-impact language and university preparation programs. He has also led curriculum reviews, coordinated staff development initiatives, and supported student wellbeing, retention, and progression through evidence-based and inclusive teaching practices. As an accredited Mental Health First Aider, Lawrence creates supportive learning environments that enable his students to excel academically and personally.

Lawrence’s postgraduate studies focused on Autism and Learning, Second Language Acquisition, Research Methodologies, and Coaching and Mentoring Educators, strengthening his expertise in inclusive education, student success, and professional development. At CEAL, Lawrence is dedicated to helping students develop the language proficiency, academic literacy, and confidence needed to succeed in higher education and beyond.

In his free time, Lawrence enjoys playing badminton, swimming, travelling, and keeping active at the gym.
