Research Postgraduate Programme

The Department of English welcomes applications for both PhD and MPhil research degrees. Prospective students should refer to staff members’ areas of research interest when preparing their proposals (see below). Applications can be made through two channels: direct entry (PhD and MPhil; see our Registry webpage) and the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS; see webpage).
Note: pre-approval from a supervisor is NOT required for you to make an application. Please do not contact staff members directly unless you have a clear idea of your research direction and are certain that it aligns with the staff member's research interests and publications.
