Professor ZHAO Kai

Prof Zhao Kai’s research lies at the intersection of higher education policy and internationalization, with a particular focus on how policies are implemented, perceived, and how they influence universities, academics, and students across different institutional and national settings. His research addresses key issues including China’s research evaluation reform, the Double First-Class initiative, higher education expansion and equity, transnational higher education, and global knowledge production. Methodologically, he draws on qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods approaches to address complex policy questions. Across these areas, Prof Zhao’s research seeks to generate evidence that informs more equitable, effective, and internationally responsive higher education policy and practice.
