Library’s New Spine Labels and Stamping

Have you noticed some differences in our new book collection in recent months? Yes, you are right! The Library has introduced modern, waterproof, laminated adhesive call number spine labels, alongside with a newly designed edge stamp.  

The new call number spine labels require fewer manual efforts than the previous paper labels to correctly and firmly affix them onto the book spine. This is not just a change in outlook but also an improvement in our operation.  

The new interior and book edge stamp give a clearer display of the Library’s name and logo. We hope this will both elevate the branding of the Library and improve our internal workflow. 

Additionally, over the past few months, we have also relabelled our AV & Multimedia disc collection for a refreshed shelving and display system. These updates make browsing and access to materials easier and more organised, and after all, a more unified user experience for our users. 

Behind the scenes, our team is now supported by custom 3D printed tools, including a label ruler, a barcode label calibration tool and a book vise designed and produced using LU Barn (Makerspace). The Library stays innovative and utilises new technologies in our practical work.
