Dr. Tong Hao is a Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow in the Division of Industrial Data Science at the School of Data Science. He received his PhD from the University of Birmingham (UoB), an MSc jointly from the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), and a BSc from China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT).

Dr. Tong’s research interests focus on evolutionary computation, combinatorial optimization, and learning to optimize. He has published over 20 papers in top‑tier journals and leading international conferences. He has also participated as a principal investigator or core member in five research projects funded by government and industry partners, including HRI‑EU and AECC.

In addition to his research contributions, Dr. Tong serves as a reviewer for several prestigious journals such as IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, and as a program committee member for major conferences including ACM GECCO.
