LEAP Activity: Mooncake Festival Gathering – A Cultural and Communal Celebration (只提供英文版本)
On 6 October 2025, the LEAP programme under the School of Graduate Studies hosted the vibrant "Happy Learning Journey at Lingnan cum Mooncake Festival Gathering" at the Leung Fong Oi Wan Art Gallery. This festive event brought together over 30 postgraduate students to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, fostering cultural understanding and community spirit while alleviating homesickness through shared traditions and new friendships.
The gathering immersed participants in the cultural richness of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Students engaged in a hands-on mooncake-making experience, mastering traditional techniques to craft this beloved festival delicacy. Beyond creating tasty treats, they explored the festival’s significance, from lantern-lit traditions to vibrant market strolls, deepening their appreciation of Hong Kong’s heritage. Interactive peer sessions further enriched the experience, enabling students to forge meaningful connections and build a supportive network within the Lingnan community.
Yun Xiaoou, a participant from the Master of Arts in Social Entrepreneurship Innovation Management programme, shared, “This event was a wonderful blend of fun and learning. It not only celebrated the joy of gathering, a cherished tradition in China for thousands of years, but also provided insights into Hong Kong’s Mid-Autumn Festival customs, like holding lanterns at night and wandering around the market. Making mooncakes together taught me a new skill and connected me with peers, easing my homesickness. I’m deeply grateful to LEAP for this warm, enriching experience.”
The event’s warm atmosphere and collaborative spirit underscored Lingnan University’s commitment to nurturing cultural awareness and community spirit within its diverse student body, empowering postgraduate students to thrive in their academic journey.
