BA (Hons) Contemporary English Studies (Graduated in 2019)

I graduated from Lingnan University in 2019 with a first class BA in Contemporary English Studies and a minor in Translation. Following my graduation, I obtained my MA in Linguistics and MPhil in English (Applied English Linguistics) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and later became CELTA qualified. Currently, I am a lecturer in the Department of English at my alma mater.

The BA English major degree programme has equipped me with in-depth, discipline-specific knowledge of the English language and literature and the analytical skills required for furthering my studies in theoretical and applied linguistics and pursuing my career as a university teacher. I also had ample opportunities for independent and experiential learning. For instance, I studied linguistics and English education abroad as an international exchange student, volunteered to teach English to local primary and secondary school students in Hong Kong and to new adult immigrants in the United States through service-learning, and conducted my final year project on a topic in second language learning and teaching in the local ESL context.

Without these fruitful experiences of being an English major, I would not have become who I am today. Indeed, I am most grateful for the professional guidance and support from the professors, as well as the lifelong friendships with my former ENG classmates.
