The City Through My Lens: A Social Media Campaign - Video Competition 2025

Rules for Participants and Team formation

1. All participants must be full-time secondary school students in 2025-26 academic year in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.  

2. Each team must consist of a maximum of SIX students. Each team must include one teacher at their school as their Team Advisor. 

   The Team Advisor is responsible for submitting the registration and video link and communicating with the organizer. 

3. The members of each team must be from the students in the same school.

4. During the competition, teams or team members must use official school email account for any communication with the organizer, including but not limited to registration, submission and enquiry.

5. Team Advisor must submit the information of all team members.  Each team can only submit one video.

6. The registration form can be downloaded at the website of Department of Marketing and International Business of Lingnan University (www.ln.edu.hk/mkt/lumsm-2025).

7. Team Advisor must send the registration form to [email protected] by 6 November 2025, 5:00p.m.  Late registration is not accepted.

8. Each student can only register in one team.  Any student who registers more than one team will be disqualified from registration.  The concerned teams will also be disqualified.

9. Teams or team members who fail to comply with the competition rules will be disqualified.

Format and Rules of Submission

1. Each team has to prepare a 3-minutes video to address the following topic: 

   “The City Through My Lens: A Social Media Campaign”

   Assuming your team promotes your city via social media and creating one video for this promotion.

2. The video should be in MP4 or MOV format and resolution must not be less than 1920 pixels x 1080 pixels.

3. The style and contents of video can be, but not limited to, “story, advertising, documentary”, etc.

4. The teams must ensure that the contents of the video shall comply with the laws in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

5. If the video contains authorized material(s) or requests a permission during video recording, the participants must obtain the permission from the copyright owner(s), the authorization(s) or corresponding venue owner(s) at their own costs. The participants may be requested to show their approval documents.

6. All videos must be original and have not been submitted to any previous competitions (in part or totally).

7. All team members must appear in the video.

8. The videos must be in English or Chinese and add English and Chinese subtitle.

9. At the end of your 3-minute video, participants must explicitly state whether any Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools were used in creating the video.

   The declaration statement can be simple and direct, for example:

   "I declare that (choose one):

   – No AI tools were used in the creation of this video.

   – AI tools were used in the creation of this video. Details of the AI tools and usage have been submitted separately."

10.     The download link of the video must be included in the registration form.  The participating team must ensure the organizer having the rights to download.  If the organizer cannot download the video, the registration will be forfeited.

11. Panel Judge will review all submission and decide the award teams.

12. The criteria of judging

    – Contents: Can really respond to the topic (40%)

    – Creativity: Creativity, uniqueness and expression of the work (40%)

    – Technical Skills: Professional standards in lens use, editing, sound design, etc. (20%)

13. The awarded teams will receive notification by email on or before 21 November 2025.

14. Award Presentation Ceremony will be held tentatively on 6 December 2025 in person.  The venue and details will be announced in due course.

Other Rules

1. Teams or team members who fail to comply with this rule and regulation will be disqualified.

2. If disputes arise, the decision of the organizer shall be final.

3. The organizer owns the copyrights and usage rights, including but limiting to renaming, copying, editing, distributing, and broadcasting of all videos (in part or totally) submitted by the participating teams and all event recordings, if any, in the competition.

4. The organizer reserves the rights to change the time of the event in the competition.

5. If the participants have any question or enquiry of the rules and regulations, they should consult the organizer immediately.
