In the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Translation at Lingnan, you’ll be learning more than how to translate between Chinese and English. You’ll be learning how to communicate across cultural divides. Want to become a world citizen? Well, you’ll get a chance to study abroad for one term at a sister institution located in Canada, Spain, Japan, Korea, just to name a few dreamy destinations. While in Hong Kong, you’ll be learning about everything you’re curious about, in law and business, technology and engineering, science and engineering, the Internet and AI. Is AI going to replace you? Not a chance! You’ve got a heart and a brain; you can think critically and with sympathy, unlike Chat GPT. But you will learn how to harness the power of AI to become a skilled multilingual, cross-cultural communicator.
In the programme, you’ll take courses in different kinds of specialised translation, interpreting, linguistics, translation theory, criticism, and history. You’ll also have the opportunity to apply your learning in real-world contexts: corporate internships, exchange programmes, and service projects. When you graduate, you can pursue all sorts of careers, not just translation and interpreting but also management, marketing, journalism, public relations, education, and even academic research.
翻譯、跨文化研究及企業傳訊(榮譽)文學士課程提供優質的雙語及跨文化教育。翻譯系畢業生對語言具有高度認知，擁有優秀的中英雙語能力，能對事物作出深思，富有創意。課程兼顧理論與實踐，科目題材廣泛，當中包括不同範疇的專業翻譯、口譯、語言學、翻譯理論、翻譯批評和翻譯史。

The MATS Programme is a Master’s programme in Hong Kong with a special focus on translation from Chinese to English. It is tailored for those who are proficient in Chinese and English and interested in the study of translation practice and translation research. The MATS Programme is distinctive in its global outlook and international team, with faculty members coming from Canada and across the Greater China region - including the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong SAR, giving students’ learning a significant edge. The Programme features small-class teaching to ensure plenty of interaction between students and lecturers. We also offer one-to-one supervision for translation projects and dissertation writing, which helps to train students in independent translation and research, and allows for more in-depth discussion with the supervisors.
翻譯哲學碩士（MPhil）課程於1995-1996學年首度開辦。本課程屬研究型課程，申請人須符合以下要求方可獲頒授學位：1.完成經審核之研究計劃。 2.提交符合學術規範之書面論文。 3.通過由指定考評委員主持之論文答辯。
