Admission Requirements
General Qualifications
Candidates to be admitted to the DSM programme should:
Hold a Master's degree in engineering, sciences, energy, or a related discipline, awarded by a tertiary education institution as recognised for admission purposes by Lingnan; or
Have equivalent qualifications and experience, considered on a case-by-case basis.
English Language Requirements
In addition to the above, applicants whose degree or, exceptionally, an alternative qualification deemed equivalent from a tertiary institution is not using English as the medium of instruction (MOI) for the programme should obtain:
A minimum score of 79 in TOEFL Internet-Based Test1; or
A band score of 6.0 or above in IELTS1; or
A minimum score of 450 or above in College English Test Band 6 (CET-6), with proof of competency in spoken English2; or
An equivalent score in a recognised test; or
An equivalent qualification to prove his/her English language proficiency, which will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
1 For IELTS and TOEFL qualifications for admission purposes, the University accepts only results from a single test sitting. The test must be conducted at a recognised test centre and fall within the two-year validity period, counted from the date of submission of the admission application for the specific intake cohort.
2 For CET-6 results submitted for admission purposes, the University accepts only those obtained within the five-year validity period, counted from the date of submission of the admission application for the specific intake cohort. Applicants must also demonstrate competency in spoken English through an oral interview conducted by the Programme and/or obtain grade B or above in the CET-6 Speaking English Test.
For Part-time Study
Applicants applying for the part-time mode must:
Hold a valid visa or entry permit that authories study in Hong Kong; and
Ensure their visa status permits part-time study for the entire duration of the programme.
Confidential Recommendation
An applicant should invite his/her referee(s) to complete the Confidential Recommendation form and return the form in sealed envelopes directly to the DSM Programme Office stated below by post as soon as possible after you submit your online application (no later than the official application deadline of the programme).

Application Procedures
To apply for DSM, please submit your application at the Online Application System. Applicants should upload the following application documents to the online application:
Identity card, passport or travel document
Transcripts
Consent form* (Academic awards verification for entry) [Download form]
English proficiency test report (e.g. IELTS/ TOEFL)
MOI statement (if English is the usual medium of teaching and assessment at the university of which your degree is obtained)
Master's degree certificate/ Graduation certificate
China Qualification Verification (CQV) Report downloadable from https://www.chsi.com.cn/en/ (Applicable if you graduated with a degree awarded by a university in Mainland China)
Personal Statement (Please write a personal statement in English outlining your academic achievements, choice of study, career goals and why apply to the DSM programme.)
Supplementary Information (Please provide any further information (e.g. CV), in English, in support of your application)
Other supporting documents to substantiate qualifications in your application. (If you are an applicant from Mainland China, please provide a sheet stating your contact information in Chinese, i.e. name, address and etc.)
